• 9 to 10 a.m., Surry Community College Small Business Center and the Yadkin Valley, Yadkin County and Greater Mount Airy chambers of commerce are hosting a free business class, The Entrepreneurial Equation, featuring speakers Audra Cox and EdwardJones Financial Advisors. The class is designed to help business owners use banking, retirement and insurance tools to build, protect and enhance the financial security of businesses, owners and employees. • 7 p.m., the Yadkin County GOP will hold its county convention at the Yadkin County Courthouse for the purpose of electing GOP officers and county precinct officials.

March 9

• 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., the 2019 Shallow Ford Seminar and Walk will be held beginning and ending at the Huntsville Baptist Church, 4901 Courtney-Huntsville Road, Yadkinville. The event is co-sponsored by the Lewisville Historical Society and the Yadkin County Historical Society. The historic road cut to the river began as an animal trail. Later Indians, explorers, families who travelled to the western United States, and armies used it during the American Revolution and the Civil War. The cost is $10 per person. Advanced registration forms and the $10 fee are required, because space is limited. • 11 a.m., Believer’s Baptist Church is having their 14th year celebration. Servant’s Voices to perform. Church located at 728 North State Street, Yadkinville, across from the Fire Department.

March 11-12

• On March 11, Yadkin Christian Ministries will host its Empty Bowls 2019 Silent Auction preview night at Yadkinville United Methodist Church from 5 to 7 p.m. Those attending can bid early on auction items, and register free for door prizes. Donations will be accepted. Boone Doggie food truck will be set up with its hot dogs for sale. On March 12, YCM will hold the Empty Bowls event at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meal ticket includes choice of chicken stew or vegetable soup with salad, cake slice, drink and custom pottery bowl. Tickets are $25 in advance, or $30 at the door. Raffle tickets will be sold for a handmade quilt, and silent auction items will be available to bid on and can be viewed at https://yadkincm.org/silent-auction.

• 6 p.m., the town of East Bend will host a community-wide input meeting to decide if town residents are interested in a park and what they would want to be in a town park. The meeting will be held at the East Bend Public Library.

• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Yadkin County Protect Your ID free document shred day will be held at the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce, 205 S. Jackson St., Yadkinville. The event is sponsored by Yadkinville Rotary Club, IDShield and the chamber of commerce. The groups will be accepted nonperishable food items or cash to be donated to Yadkin Christian Ministries food pantry in support of the Rotary club’s R.U.S.H. (Rotarians United to Stop Hunger) food initiative. Limited to two boxes of paper media only.

• 7 a.m., Upper Yadkin Valley Habitat for Humanity will host its annual Habitat Hammer 5K/10K with a new addition of team and group entries.
